President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Dr Isaac Dasmani, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality in the Western Region.
Dr Dasmani, a Hall Master of Atlantic Hall and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics Studies, all of the University of Cape Coast, will replace Mr Mozart Kweku Owuh as the MCE when approved by the assembly members.
His nomination was confirmed in a press release dated May 7, 2020 and signed by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama.
“His Excellency the President in accordance with article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), has nominated Dr Isaac Dasmani as Municipal Chief Executive for Prestea-Huni Valley Municipal Assembly in the Western Region.
“In view of the above, the Hon. Regional Minister for Western Region is requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executive,” the statement said.
Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution stipulates that “There shall be a district chief executive for every district who shall be appointed by the President with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of the members of the assembly present and voting at the meeting.”
