The University of Ghana, Legon has opened its portal for academic registration for second and third-year students offering undergraduate programs to report to school on Thursday, April 1, 2021, and Sunday, April 4, 2021, respectively.
This arrangements thus brings the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year to an end for first and fourth-year students of the university.
The semester officially has ended on Sunday 21st March 2021 after 9 weeks of academic activities, including the two weeks for their examinations.
According to some students, the semester was coupled with several hurdles since their study duration was limited.
They said the semester which was to be undertaken in about thirteen weeks was compressed to just nine weeks.
Joseph Ansong, a final year Psychology student informed the Univers News that, “some of the students had 9 assignments and were supposed to submit them within 6 weeks. Meanwhile, their final exams were onsite” They claim the leaders did not consider their mental health.
The groups are to report back to school between Thursday April 1, 2021 and Sunday April 4, 2021.
Disinfection exercise has been arranged to take place to prevent the spread of the covid-19 virus to ensure students return to safe environment despite the spread of the virus infections.
Mrs. Lydia Nyarko-Danquah, the head of the Teaching and Examinations Unit at the Academic Affairs Directorates in an interview told the Univers News that, the plan for the double track system was necessary to reduce the spread of the virus by reducing the number of students and make sure they go by the safety protocols, maintain good health and obtain the quality education they need.
