Story by De IMOJI

GIJ-Student Representative Council climaxed its Akwaaba Week celebrations with Mr. and Miss. Akwaaba on September 20,2019.

Mr. and Miss. Akwaaba is a pageantry competition for GIJ freshers that focuses on judging and ranking the physical attributes, personality traits, intelligence, talent and answers to judges’ questions of these freshers.

This years competition was highly contested by 16 elegant and intelligent freshers and after displaying their talents and intelligence, the winners were crowned. That wasn’t the best part though: it was when people realized that three of the winners were Mandela Hall members!

These are the Winner of Miss. Akwaaba, Lordina Neyram Bessie, 1st Runner Up of Miss Akwaaba, Christabel Agyepong and 2nd Runner Up of Mr. Akwaaba, Alfred Yeboah.

Mandela Hall celebrates the winners

This is NOT the first glory for Mandela Hall. Mandela Hall has won the ‘Best Hall of the Year’ at GIJ Eminence Awards 2 consecutive times and remains the defending best hall on campus.

The current Vice President, Tracy Hagan, External Affairs Commissioner, Michael Elorm Zah, and Organizing Secretary, Cedric Kekeli Afewu of the GIJ SRC are all proud members of Mandela Hall.

Yes, we live up to our accolade: UBUNTU! We are Mandela Hall members, the Ubuntu family, the Mandelians, and are indeed the best at whatever we do. The secret? I AM BECAUSE WE ARE!
