The university of Ghana witnessed the launch of the Presidential campus business pitch, with the theme; “Nurturing Tomorrows Business Giants Today”. The initiative is set to drive students to steer their creative entrepreneurial skills to impact the nation positively. It is dearly at the heart of the President of the Republic to see young people thrive not only in their academic pursuit but also in creating indigenous businesses for the people of Ghana.
Dignitaries present at the event held at the R.S Amegashie auditorium at the University of Ghana included Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal; minister for Business development. Hon. Prof. Kwesi Yankah, minister in charge of tertiary Education, Mr. John Kumah, chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Hon. Barbara Ayisi, MP Cape Coast North, and other special guests invited. The entourage was welcomed by the Vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. In the professors opening remark, he acknowledged the institution is open for such creative endeavors, and it’s ready as the nations premier university to support individuals and creative minds towards business development. He advised the audience that they should not be bothered about the recent happenings surrounding the university as they are poised to serve the will of the university and the interest of the nation as a whole, he said. The SRC president; Mr. Isaac Agyemang on behalf of the students also made mention of the brilliant ideas many students harbour and advised that these can be harness by the kind support of the ministry. He appreciated their effort in bringing to fruition such an initiative to help students across the country.
The representative of the Minister of information, Hon Twum emphasized the need for young people of this country to start to dream, unleash their potentials and be the force to drive both the knowledge and entrepreneurial economy for our greater good.
“Dream, but it should be a Ghanaian dream, identify problems and be a solution to the everyday challenges we face as people, be passionate about the needs of Africa and the world beyond.” He said.
The launch would not have been complete without performances from the university dance ensemble’s beautiful cultural display and poetry recital from talented artists on display.
Students, guests, stakeholders and all distinguished members present were asked to put the nation at heart, bear in mind that future generation will look to us for the decisions we make and that they must be fruitful.
