UDS and OpenLabs NIIT Ghana takes a major step towards digital transformation in the Northern Region of Ghana

OpenLabs NIIT Ghana signed an MoU with the University for Development Studies to offer digital learning programs for their distance education students. This is a major step towards digital transformation in the northern part of Ghana where e-learning is still at its nascent stage.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Ayum Teye, the University has been instrumental in major developments in northern Ghana and this will be another milestone in bringing the much-needed change of the hour. He also stated that, with the upsurge in organizations demanding technology professionals, this partnership will help many of the students to prepare themselves to fit in the fast-paced technology world.



Projections show the e-learning market worldwide is forecast to surpass 243 billion U.S. dollars by 2022. (Statisa.com). There is a dire need for digital learning solutions which are hyper-localized to suit the African market. The JobFactory Bootcamp module developed by OpenLabs focuses on the technology programs that are highly in demand. JobFactory Programs such as Python, Blockchain, Social Media Marketing, Graphic Design, etc are designed by industry experts with case studies and examples relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa.

Director of OpenLabs, Dr. Sujith Jayaprakash said, OpenLabs is currently working on digitizing more industry-relevant programs in business administration. He also urged the university students to take the maximum benefit from this partnership and parallelly upgrade themselves to work in the competitive environment.
