Who is King Kay?
Dumba Mensah Clovis Cajetan, also known as King Kay, is a student leader, an entrepreneur, an activist, a philanthropist, a writer, and a communicator. He is a Level 200 Bachelor of Arts in Political Science student at Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD UBIDS) in the Upper West Region.
King Kay is the CEO and owner of PLAN B SOLUTIONS, a skills training company based in Ghana that seeks to equip young people with various TVET skills to enable them to create economic opportunities for themselves through self-employment.
He is also the founder of THE SCHOLARS FORUM- an online media outlet that seeks to create an opportunity for students to build their communication and leadership skills.
He is also the CEO and manager of Street Kings Entertainment, an upper west-based record label.
Born Dumba Mensah Clovis Cajetan, he hails from the Upper West Region of Ghana, specifically the Nadowli-Kaleo district. He started his basic education in the Savannah region and later moved to the upper west region, where he continued to junior high School.
During his basic and junior high school days, despite the fact that he was a very brilliant student, he also had a passion for sports, specifically football, hockey, and athletics. He was easily identified among his peers because of his skills in sports. He featured in the inter-schools, inter-circuits, inter-districts and other highly esteemed tournaments in Ghana. He later attained the height of a senior captain in the Kingdom Red Stars team. He left remarkable achievements in his tenure as senior captain of the team, and his name still remains on the lips of many football fans.
King Kay, as he loves to be called, attended Saint Dominic R/C J.H.S where he started his leadership career. He earned the height of a Senior Prefect based on both merit and elections. He was also appointed as the “I Love Varnacular” chairman. This was an initiative aimed at reducing the level of vernacular speaking in the school while improving the communication skills of students. His tenure of office was regarded as one of the best regimes ever.
He proceeded to St. Michael’s Boys Senior High School (Nandom Senior High) where he achieved greater heights. He was a very bright student and was a favorite of many teachers. He was the best history student, as well as CRS, Literature in English, and government student for his entire life at Nandom Senior High School. Some of his achievements at Nandom Senior High School include:
- President of History Club
- Founder and president of Literature club
- President of Climate Resilient Club
- A Senior Debater
- Chief Contestant of PANASU etc.
He was a great leader and served as an inspiration and motivation to many. He also left a great legacy at Nandom Senior High School, and his name still remains in the Hall of Fame of the school. He completed school with excellent results and left so many unbreakable records. After completing senior high school, he took to travelling and has combed almost all four corners of the country.
During his adventures, he encountered a lot of unemployed youth across the country and was touched to contribute in order to help solve the high rate of youth unemployment in Ghana. He founded a skills training company in 2017 called Kingkay Skills International, a skills training company based in Ghana that seeks to equip young people with various TVET skills to enable them to create economic opportunities for themselves through self-employment.
The company has trained and mentored over 1000 young people in the Upper West Region in various TVET skills, including satellites, CCTV camera installations, biofill and biogas construction, soap production, etc.
The company has gone through a rebranding process and is now known as PLAN B SOLUTIONS, a skills training and production company based in the upper west region. The company won the IGNITING DREAMS 2022 PEOPLE’S CHOICE PRIZE earlier this year.
King Kay has founded an organization at SDD-UBIDS called THE SCHOLARS FORUM– an online media outlet that seeks to create an opportunity for students to build their communication and leadership skills.
He is also the CEO and manager of Street Kings Entertainment, an upper west-based record label. He was recently interviewed by MX24 TV on their show “Goodness Moment” to find out more about his achievements and wins.
